About
From a young age Brian knew he wanted to be involved in the design and construction of our built environment. Born to a family of engineers, contractors, and artists, his boyhood interest in buildings grew into a career and passion to help shape the world we live in.
Building upon his knowledge and experience, Brian formed Brodeur Development Group to better serve his clients. He believes in a comprehensive and collaborative approach to development and project management. His background allows him to bring in industry leading resources and expertise at the correct points during the development process. While he is based in Chicago, his experience supporting other markets makes him a viable partner for any project.
Brian attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where he received his B.S. in Architectural Studies. Upon graduation, he joined RTKL (now Arcadis) as an Architectural Designer. While working here, Brian discovered the vital role the real estate developer plays in the construction of our built world. This led to continuing his education at the University of Maryland where he became the school’s inaugural dual-recipient of both the Masters of Real Estate Development and the Masters of Architecture. While completing his schooling, Brian joined the Bozzutto Group’s leasing and property management team servicing luxury residential buildings in Washington, D.C.
Post-graduation, Brian joined Westfield as an Architectural Designer in the Mid-Atlantic market, supporting the design, development, construction, and leasing of redeveloped regional shopping malls. He then moved back to Chicago and supported the Mid-West and Chicagoland area in a similar capacity.
Craving more urban development, Brian joined The Onni Group in 2013 and spent the next 10 years reshaping Chicago’s skyline. As a foundational member of Onni’s Chicago team, Brian entitled, planned, and delivered over 2,400 residential units across seven high-rise properties. Additionally, he assisted with the due diligence, acquisition, and reposition of multiple offices and hospitality assets. He served as the office leader and eventually expanded his reach to the Seattle market where he stabilized the delivery of a 1,400 unit, single phase, mixed use project in South Lake Union. As the Vice President of Development, he oversaw the planning of thousands of residential units and over 2 million square feet of office and commercial space. In his tenure, Brian used his unique skill set to manage a diverse, vertically integrated team.
Brian then joined CA /Article Student Living as Executive Vice President of Development and Construction Management, where he delivered five student housing assets across the country while working directly with investors and other stakeholders.
An active member of the city’s real estate network, Brian currently sits on the executive board for the Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards, benefiting the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Previously, he served as the chairperson for the 36th annual event.
Together with his husband, Brian owns and operates Wilderhouse in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. The Shop offers curated home goods, apothecary, and accessories. Formed from the genuine curiosity to know where daily household items come from, Wilderhouse offers beautiful and ethical alternatives to home basics. In addition to its welcoming storefront, Wilderhouse has been commissioned for custom art pieces by design firms for residential staging and amenity spaces.
